God is present in everything I behold because God resides within my mind. One of the most profound moments of my 40-day journey of silence and contemplative prayer, while immersed in the teachings of A Course in Miracles, occurred on a particular day when I truly embraced the revelation encapsulated in Lesson 30: God is in everything I see because God is my mind.
It began gently in the morning as I stood at the sink, washing dishes. As I gazed into the swirling dishwater filled with iridescent bubbles, I found myself enveloped in an exquisite, sweet bliss, so pure and captivating that it transcended my usual perception. At that moment, I felt an overwhelming presence of God shimmering within the very water before me.
This experience was indescribably sweet, an incredible elation that seemed to permeate every aspect of my surroundings. It was as if a veil had been lifted, allowing me to encounter the Divine in the dishwater.
As I turned my attention to the sky, I felt drawn to the clouds, which danced above me in a symphony of soft hues and vivid textures. They looked so vibrant and fluffy as they were joyfully singing the sweet song of God.
Every cloud seemed to come alive, humming sacred melodies that echoed the sweetness of Divine love. This celestial song flowed from my mind to the clouds, building into a powerful crescendo that filled the air.
Everything around me transformed, appearing in breathtaking vibrance—colours bursting forth in high definition, each one illuminated in a way I'd never observed before.
It was as if the world had been enhanced a thousandfold, a kaleidoscope of life that vibrated with an energy of pure love and bliss.
This was not merely a feeling; it was an encounter with the profound peace and love of God, an experience that surpasses all understanding and defies description.
In that moment, I experienced a peace that was unlike anything I had ever known—something not of this world, a gift so extraordinary and precious that it engraved itself in my memory, becoming a steadfast mighty companion that continues to inspire my daily practice of prayer to this day.
Lesson 30
“God is in everything I see because God is in my mind.
The idea for today is the springboard for vision. ²From this idea will the world open up before you, and you will look upon it and see in it what you have never seen before. ³Nor will what you saw before be even faintly visible to you.
Today we are trying to use a new kind of “projection.” ²We are not attempting to get rid of what we do not like by seeing it outside. ³Instead, we are trying to see in the world what is in our minds, and what we want to recognize is there. ⁴Thus, we are trying to join with what we see, rather than keeping it apart from us. ⁵That is the fundamental difference between vision and the way you see.
Today’s idea should be applied as often as possible throughout the day. ²Whenever you have a moment or so, repeat it to yourself slowly, looking about you, and trying to realize that the idea applies to everything you do see now, or could see now if it were within the range of your sight.
4. Real vision is not limited to concepts such as “near” and “far.” ²To help you begin to get used to this idea, try to think of things beyond your present range as well as those you can actually see, as you apply today’s idea.
Real vision is not only unlimited by space and distance, but it does not depend on the body’s eyes at all. ²The mind is its only source. ³To aid in helping you to become more accustomed to this idea as well, devote several practice periods to applying today’s idea with your eyes closed, using whatever subjects come to mind, and looking within rather than without. ⁴Today’s idea applies equally to both.”
